After a year at the asylum in Saint-Remy, Vincent left it and went to Paris to visit his brother Theo and his family. He lived in Auvers-sur-Oise, so Theo found it to be a perfect place for Vincent to relocate to. Van Gogh arrived at Auvers-sur-Oise in May 1890 and soon became a good friend with dr. Gachet.
