The Adaptation function allows you to alter certain values and/or settings in control modules which support it. Warning: You should refer to the Factory Repair Manual for your particular car (or some other documented procedure) before “playing” with the Adaptation function.

Can you tune with VCDS?

There are many diagnostic and access port cables resembling the one from vag-com. You can do diagnostic real-time reading, logging, and graphing. You can change or set new coding and enable or disable some functions. But there is no tuning access with VCDS for any 2006 or newer.

How do I find my security access code VCDS?

Valid Login codes can be found in the Factory Repair Manual for your car. Balloons: VCDS can show Security Access “charts” when appropriate information is available in a Label File for the control module in question. The balloon will appear when the mouse cursor is hovered over the Enter security access key field.

Are VCDS free?

The unregistered shareware version of VCDS-Lite is free for non-commercial use, but no support of any kind is available. Use in a commercial environment requires registration.

The 7-digit PIN/SKC (Secret Key Code) dialog is used for Key Matching and Immobilizer 3 Adaptation. Just in case you got your 7-digit SKC before then (along with the necessary WSC, Importer and date the code was generated), instructions on using this function can be found here.

Can you pirate VCDS?

It’s recommended that you not pirate VCDS for multiple reasons: Ross-Tech is pretty cool and they essentially make the industry standard VW interface software and hardware – so it’d be nice to support them. It’s illegal.

Does VCDS work on all cars?

Yes, VCDS can be used on other cars using the “OBD-II generic function” option, but the program is not specially designed to be compatible with them, so it’s a bit hit and miss if it will work.

Is VCDS worth?

VCDS is the best option for novices. It’s not cheap, but it has the best community around the world. With vcds it is very safety.

When to use long adaptation in VCDs tour?

Values put in with [Test] but not Saved will persist until controller is powered-down. Long Adaptation is a subset of the Adaptation function and is used/needed (for example) to balance the fuel injectors on Common-Rail TDI engines (such as the BKN).

Can a VCD be used on a VW MkIV?
