An easy fix and possible cause of the problem is that either the incorrect hydraulic fluid is being used, or the fluid level is too low. The hydraulic pump may also be clogged; the pump filter will have to be replaced, and he hydraulic system will have to be flushed and refilled before the plow will function properly.

Fill the hydraulic unit to the fill cap. Run the plow through all functions, making sure to deadhead the plow one second in each direction. This helps push air out of the cylinders. Top the unit off with fluid and replace the fill plug.

What you can do is take a jumper cable and go from the battery to the plow motor and see if it runs. If it does the solonoid is probabbly bad. What type of plow pump is it?

What kind of oil do you use on a snow plow?

It would be best if you could get it above freezing when you do this, make sure to manually pull the blade side to side to get the fluid out of the turning cylinders. Use 5606 fluid when you fill it back up, it’s a low temperature aircraft grade hydraulic oil that most snowplow shops use.
