How do I keep my 3M 5200 from drying out?

Yup… I freeze the sealant in a plastic zip lock bag and it stays pliable when it thaws out. If you can vacuum seal it, it would be better, but not necessary. If you put a hole in the side since the nozzle is clogged, put a piece of tape over the hole to minimize the amount that hardens.

Application of Adhesive Sealant: Cut tip to desired bead size, puncture seal in nozzle and remove the seal at bottom end of cartridge. Place cartridge in a caulk gun. Apply 3M Marine Adhesive/Sealant Fast Cure 5200 to the seam or part to be bonded. Position parts.

Does 5200 work on PVC?

Solvents used with PVC, are to literally change the surface molecules on PVC, so that the cement (which really isn’t) can create a chemical weld. As to the use of polyurethanes like Sikaflex 292 or 3M 5200, you’ll not be as satisfied with the results, so wouldn’t be recommended.

Does 5200 stick to HDPE?

agreed. Didn’t have much luck long term with bonding HPDE with 3M 5200 either. HDPE is difficult to bond it’s designed to be slippery, can’t really be glued effectively. has to be thermally joined (welded) for long term bond.
